Hindus or the followers of Vedic Sanatan Dharma are the age old civillisation of more than 10000 years . Our culture as per our Scriptures is known as Sanatan Dharma or Varna – Ashrama Dharma . The Persians in the ancient times define our culture as per the geographic description of our locality naming us Hindus ( people living on the land beyond Sindhu river ) & we got the name Hindus & our Sanatan Dharma is renamed as Hinduism
Wen we look at the historical population records from 1400 to 1800 , 1900 & 2020 Hindu population as per the share of global population is only decreasing . As we know from earlier article on Indonesia that it was Hindu Land till mid 16th century so it’s quite obvious that Hindu percentage of population at that time was quite high . Now let’s check out the historical population figures as per the global percentage during the periods from 1400 , 1700 , 1800 , 1900 & 2020

The figures for 2020 which is 13% is very doubtful figure coz many neo christian & neo Buddhists converts keep their Hindu surname while following & practicing christianity & Buddhism in their personal lives . As per Joshua project data ( the body to count the global Christian population ) there are 6-7 cr accounted Christians in India today….similarly as per global Buddhists forums the unaccounted Buddhists population in India exceed 2.5 cr plus there are many Moslem converts among Indian Hindu community who are recorded as Hindus in census report. If we subtract these converts from Hindu population figures the population of Hindus comes around 92 cr i.e < 12 % of global population
Now , let us come to the future of Hindus if this same trend continues for next 30 yrs
Today the population growth rate of Hindus is under 0.7% per annum while the growth rate of Moslems is around 1.9% which is 2.8 times of Hindu growth rate i.e every Hindu married couple possess average of 1.4 children while the Moslem couple possess 3.9 children’s . Today India is adding 1.35 cr population every year to its population of which only 70 cr or 52% are Hindus . So if this trend continues for next 3 decades the share of Hindus in Indian population will decrease considerably . The official Hindu population which was 79.8 % as per 2011 census will decrease to 70% in 2051 . In the same period the size of Moslem share of population will go beyond 23% from 14% in 2011 . Beside the above figures there is a constant threat from the rise of conversion activities by Christian churches & missionaries . Today whole of North Eastern India except Hindu Assam & Hindu Tripura are Christian majority states . 20% of TN , 15 % AP , 15 % Punjab , 15% Jharkhand , 10% Orissa , 10% Maharastra , 10% Chhattisgarh , 5-7% UP ,Bihar & Assam are all neo Christian converts whose names are recorded as Hindus in the census figures .
If the Hindus don’t awake now & become united & form common forums to work for greater Hindu cause upliftment there is very gleam future for Hindus & hinduism in coming decades .
